Home > Local Talent > Shawn SterProfile :: Shawn Ster I began playing at the age of 9 on my older sister’s Sear’s & Roebuck guitar, with 3 of the tuning pegs missing. My mother saw promise in me, so she invested in a decent guitar and signed me up for lessons. I hated school in general, so structured guitar lessons were basically just irritating to me. Fortunately, I have always had the ability to pick songs up by listening to them and piecing the music together, so I set out to learn every song I could. I joined my first band at the age of 14, and have been playing in groups and as a solo artist ever since. My most recent band, “It’s All That”, was together for 6 ½ years, and our last show was on New Year’s Eve 2007 at the Chrome Horse. Now, at the age of 42, I have decided to re-invent myself musically, learn a whole mess of new music and pursue solo work exclusively. My repertoire ranges from The Beatles to Toby Keith to Nickelback, with a bunch of one-hit wonder tunes mixed in for good measure. If you stop out to a performance, say hi and be sure to request your favorite song. I’ll play it if I know it, and if I do not currently have it, I’ll be more than happy to give it a listen for possible addition to the show. |
